The Salt Therapy Grotto

The Salt Therapy Grotto, in Naples, owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Dariusz Klentak and Magdalena Bykowska, offers adults and children the opportunity to benefit from wellness services such as natural, non-invasive salt therapy, a far-infrared sauna and red light therapy.

An adult salt room and a separate children’s salt room are designed to mimic the grotto caves located along the coast of the Black Sea on the Crimean Peninsula. They are built primarily with a base of tons of Himalayan salt and salt from Poland, in addition to salt from Pakistan, Japan, the Dead Sea area of Jordan, France, Cyprus, Morocco, Portugal, Hawaii, Peru, India and England. The salt contains 84 minerals that the body needs to function properly.

Halotherapy

The salt rooms use halogenerators to crush pure 100 percent dry salt into micronized particles that are dispersed through the air. During a 50-minute session breathing in the salty air, salt molecules comprised of a positive sodium ion and a negative chloride ion enter the moist airways of the lungs and break down, releasing negative ions which stimulate airway linings, improving mucous clearance and the immune response to pathogens.

People with chronic respiratory conditions may lack sodium chloride in their airway linings. Halotherapy helps resolve this deficiency, alleviates symptoms, helps prevent reoccurrences and reduces dependence on medications such as nasal sprays and inhalers. It also reduces stress, headaches, lethargy and depression, while improving energy and mental acuity, and stabilizing mood and sleep patterns.

The airborne salt also clears up a variety of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Clinical studies show that it is an effective natural treatment for allergies, asthma, sinusitis and other respiratory conditions.

Far-Infrared Sauna

A 30-minute session in the full-spectrum infrared sauna heats the muscles and produces an increased blood flow level similar to that seen during exercise. Infrared heat, which heats the body directly without warming the surrounding air, assists in alleviating inflammatory conditions, relieving muscle pain, improving the immune system, removing toxins and improving the appearance of cellulite. Additionally, far-infrared heat eases joint pain and stiffness, increases metabolism, burns calories and aids in weight loss.

Red Light Technology

Clinical treatment trials using red light in the U.S. and across much of Europe has led to its application in varied medical fields, including anti-aging medicine. Results of a 2014 study published in Photomedicine and Laser Surgery demonstrate both efficacy and safety for red light therapy in promoting anti-aging skin rejuvenation and an increase in intradermal collagen. Subjects that were treated experienced significant improvements in skin complexion, skin tone, texture, reduced skin roughness, reduced signs of wrinkles and fine lines, and an increase in collagen density.

A series of red light therapy sessions has proved successful as a treatment for rosacea and acne, as well as for healing wounds, scar tissue and many skin, joint and muscle problems.

The Salt Therapy Grotto is located in the Cambridge Square Offices at 3443 Pine Ridge Rd., Unit 102, in Naples. For an appointment and more information, call 239-598-0990 or visit SaltTherapyGrotto.com.

The Toxic Side of Beauty

While mainstream media has only recently alerted the general public to the chemicals lurking in our products, beauty and spa experts in Southwest Florida have been offering organic and far less toxic alternatives for nearly a decade.

Proper Footwear Makes All the Difference

Orthotics help support the foot and distribute stress across the foot more evenly.

Honoring Nature on the Summer Solstice

Southwest Floridians can celebrate by taking a walk through any one of Collier County’s 16 parks or any of Lee County’s 38 parks, Naples Botanical Garden, Happehatchee’s labyrinth, the Edison and Ford Winter Estates botanical gardens or along any of our beautiful beaches.

A Career That Keeps On Giving Joy

Julie Campbell, owner of Natural Nail Care Clinic was shocked when doctors at MD Anderson, in Houston, Texas, told her that her cancer was caused by working with acrylic nails, inhaling the toxic fumes 10 or 12 hours a day for so many years as well as inhaling the fumes from the acetone in which clients soaked their acrylic nails.

A Poor Report Card on Water Quality

The Conservancy of Southwest Florida Estuaries graded local watersheds based on two categories: water quality and wildlife habitat. Naples Bay and the Caloosahatchee River flunked, with a D-minus in both categories.
