Gong Training from a 60-Year Veteran of the Art
Grand Gong Master Don Conreau
Grand Gong Master Don Conreau will be conducting Gong Yoga of Holistic Resonance Teacher Training. An introduction and gong bath will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., January 31, at Shangri-La Springs. Training continues at Paradise Wellness and Event Center in Bonita from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., February 1 and 2, with Puja (reverence) all night from 9 p.m., February 1, to 6 a.m., February 2. Training resumes noon to 9 p.m. on February 3.
Participants can expect to awaken intuition, creativity and the awareness of healing abilities, as well as learn ways of removing obstacles that interfere with the innate ability to rejuvenate.
Training for aspiring gong masters focuses on transpersonal gong therapy, the spiritualization process and the healing power of the gong bath through total immersion in holistic tone. Techniques for emotion/stress release, chakra alignment and yogic breath exercises for inducing deeper meditation will be taught.
Healing tone artists will add to their knowledge and improvisational skills with training in the bronze gong, singing bell bowl, sacred blowing conch, and vocal overtoning. The gong’s mystical origins and present-day applications will be covered, along with mantra, shruti singing; gong massage for the mind, giving therapeutic gong baths and gong master ethics. Conreau received kriya initiation in 1953, and spent 60 years teaching, traveling and sharing the depth and beauty of sacred gongs.
“This training is also for anyone interested in self-realization and healing power of the gong, which is why we are opening the evening gong bath and all-night Puja to the public,” says Dana Marie House, a local quantum energy healer and gong practitioner who organized the retreat .
