The intention to become a physical therapist was what Debra M. Hopp, DC, had in mind until a friend introduced her to chiropractic therapy. “I fell in love with it immediately, and decided to change my career goal, largely because I realized that I with chiropractic, I could treat pain and other health issues naturally without pharmaceuticals and all the rigmarole of conventional medicine. The one sure thing that I know is that people aren’t born medication-deficient,” says Hopp, who graduated in 1992 from Logan College of Chiropractic, in Chesterfield, Missouri. She is also a certified acupuncturist.

Wanting to be closer to family members, Hopp moved to Cape Coral and worked in the practice of another local chiropractor for one year before opening her own office, which has been a success. “I believe that one of the main reasons my practice has grown and why I have repeat, new and referral patients is because I spend quality, one-on-one time with each one. I practice from the perspective of getting to know my patients and personalizing their treatment, which can also include time spent designing a new lifestyle plan with better eating habits, exercises and stress management,” explains Hopp.

Hopp’s tools of choice to help patients manage their pain are not only acupuncture and traditional chiropractic methods but also the Activator Technique. “It’s a handheld instrument that allows me to more gently perform a spinal adjustment. I am advanced rated activator certified,” advises Hopp, whose most recent addition to her toolbox is Chirothin, a weight-loss program that is all natural and helps to resets an individual’s metabolism.
