Baby Signs Program Boosts Communication

Jessica Boberg-Harris and Marissa D’Agostino-Pendley, speech-language pathologists and Baby Signs independent certified instructors, are offering the Baby Signs program to help young children communicate with peers, parents and other adults, through the use of simple signs. Their Parent Workshop is designed for parents of children from birth to 24 months and teaches how to begin signing at home. Sign, Say and Play are six-week classes for parents and babies from 6 months to 2 years.

Fun games, songs, music and activities highlight important developmental skills, and each class includes an introductory kit that contains resources to continue the learning process at home.

Baby Signs was created by two child development experts, Drs. Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn, to help babies communicate before they are able to speak. Using the program strengthens the parent/infant bond; boosts babies’ self-confidence; promotes positive emotional and intellectual development; and helps babies learn to talk.
