Enzymes: Spark plugs for the body

Fresh foods have been forgotten in most of our animal friends' diets though there are hundreds of studies that testify to the fact that a diet high in fresh, raw fruits and vegetables is a key to a long, healthy life. Some holistic animal care experts are very strong advocates of enzymes as important health requisites. Enzymes are molecules that facilitate the chemical reactions that keep

the body running smoothly. All living creatures need enzymes for healthy functioning, and a problem of modern life is that cooking food depletes it of enzymes. Domestcated animals are particularly at risk for enzyme depletion because they generally eat heavily processed and over-cooked pet foods. Re-introducing enzymes into an animal's diet will reenergize that animal quickly and dramatically. If your pet's main food source is processed pet foods, no matter how high-end the food is, it's essential that you add live enzymes, to your animal's daily food regimen. You needn't add much raw food to your animal's diet. A small amount of grated or blended fruits or vegetables added to their regular food will give it a good enzyme boost. There are also powdered enzymes available, such as Vetzyme or Prozyme. "Never just put down a bowl of food without adding some life force to it" advises Susan Goldstein. Remember that your animal needs fresh food every day, just as you do.
