Giant Redwood to Hit the Big Screen
Many people are familiar with the story of Eco-Activist Julia Butterfly Hill's 738-day "sit" in a California giant redwood. She made the news in 1997, protesting the logging of the ancient forest, and then made the book lists afterwards with her nonfiction account The Legacy of Luna. Now the Baldwin Entertainment Group (the company that recently brought you Ray, the Ray Charles story) has purchased the rights to the story. They plan on making the book into a movie--and filming it on an eco-friendly set. "We want to show that an ecology-minded production is doable. We hope it will start a trend in the film industry by encouraging others to follow suit," Baldwin said. Save the trees! See the movie.
